Tit Branch, Co-founder of natural hair care line Miss Jessie’s, has died on Dec. 4, 2014 in an apparent suicide due to asphyxia, as reported by NV Magazine.
Instantly recognizable by her halo of soft blonde curls, Branch, along with her sister Miko created Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding, one of the brand’s signature products. The two sisters opened their Brooklyn salon in 1997, and began to sell their own brand of natural hair care products named for their grandmother, in 2004. Catering to women with kinks, coils, curls and spirals, the two sisters are considered pioneers in the natural hair community with products first being used in the salon, then branching off to select retailers like Walmart, Walgreens and Target.
News of Branch’s death and funeral spread like wildfire via social media yesterday and earlier today as a friend of the family confirmed her passing to The Washington Post. An official statement from the family is yet to be released, but Titi’s sited and friends of the brand and family have taken to Twitter to express their condolences for the fallen entrepreneur.
