Iconic documentary photographer Janette Beckman is absolutely amazing, and I mean that. Her extensive portfolio spans from the 70s to now an covers a plethora of subcultures from punk to hip hop. She’s shot everything and everyone from musicians like Afrika Bambaataa, The Ramones, RUN DMC and more.
Anyhow, Pop-Up Art Event will be presenting an exhibition that’ll revisit some of Beckman’s most iconic work featuring artists (both visual and musical) at their humble beginnings. Shot in 80s New York, the “Janette Beckman Hip Hop Mash Up 2014” will see Beckman’s work reimagined by over 10 graffiti writers.
The “Janette Beckman Hip Hop Mash Up 2014” opens tonight at Beckman Studios at 6 p.m. If you’re in the New York area, make sure you drop by and check it out!
