Did this advertisement for “The Strain” freak you out? You’re not alone.
FX is finally removing some of the billboards promoting the show The Strain, the upcoming cable show that’s based on the book trilogy by director Guillermo del Toro and author Chuck Hogan.
The ad, which shows a parasite crawling out of a woman’s eyeball, has been criticized online. A spokesperson from FX said in a statement;
“We are in the process of replacing the key art for ‘The Strain’ on outdoor media in several locations.”
FX hasn’t specified where they’ll make the changes yet. People creeped out by the advertisement includes “Neighbors” director Nicholas Stoller, and “Legally Blonde” screenwriter Kristen Smith, and of course, the good people over at Buzzfeed.
The show, executive-produced by Lost’s Carlton Cuse, will debut July 13. The 13-episode series will follow an epidemiologist (House of Cards’ Corey Stoll) who must battle a parasitic sickness threatening to transform New Yorkers into monsters.
